Key Features

Shoulder High and Perfect

The shortest model in our surf-inspired quiver, the Mosquito is made for ripping into bottom turns, hacking lips and getting pitted. It’s a pow-focused craft that thrives when ridden off the back foot, but like a good twin-fin it's super versatile. From January tree lines to icy groomers or spring slush, the Mosquito’s compact outline and aggressive sidecut keeps you carving on a dime. See you out the back!
  • The Mosquito can be ridden around 10cm shorter than a regular all-mountain snowboard – and with a poplar/paulownia core, it feels light like your favorite surfboard.
  • Our exclusive Power Rails construction wraps the core over the edge to deliver more power and grip. Together with the slim ABS sidewall, it provides a beautiful-looking finish straight out of the shaping bay.
  • The Mosquito is small but rapid. A race-grade N-9000 sintered base makes it one of the fastest boards in our line.

Tech Details

  • Construction

    Power Rails

An exclusive Nidecker construction inspired by surfboards. The topsheet is wrapped over a rounded wood core to meet a thin sidewall. It's a beautiful finish that's even more stunning to ride, delivering instant drive through the edge.

  • Topsheet

    Absorbnid

An innovative top layer designed to absorb unwanted vibrations. Enjoy a smooth ride with less fatigue.

  • Inserts

    4x2/6

6 rows of inserts at 2 cm intervals gives you maximum choice of stance width and works with any binding on the market.

  • Fiberglass

    Triax Plus

Fiberglass is woven in three directions at 45° for max stiffness. The result of extensive testing, Triax Plus uses different glass densities above and below the core to deliver more consistent torsional flex, better pop, and lightning response.

  • Core

    Light Core

An ultra lightweight core based on a lively combination of poplar and paulownia. Hardwood beech stringers down the centre enhance the overall strength and boost pop.

  • Base

    N-9000 Sintered

A lightning quick sintered base made from super dense material with a high carbon content to minimise friction. Wax it on the regs for race-level performance.

  • Added Carbon

    Pop Carbon

Carbon fiber is positioned between the inserts and the nose and tail – boosting ollie power and dampening chatter.

  • Exclusive Tech

    Booster Bars

Lightweight alloy inlays on each side of the board instantly transfer rider input into your edges – the closest thing to a gas pedal underfoot.

  • Exclusive Tech

    Orbital Cushioning

Shock-absorbing urethane is built into the board surrounding the inserts. Enjoy a smoother ride and less foot-fatigue when charging hardpack or sending it deep into the landing.

Superfun and quick turning snowboard! Pow or carving slushy resorts - you just surf on top of it. Carving on icy slopes is no problem either.

If you surf, you have to add it to you quiver!

The Mosquito is a a really smooth, responsive and fun board to ride. It is stiff yet it turns like it was on a rail. For those powder days there's nothing compared to it. Carving? you've got it! it is the closest I've felt to surfing on the snow!

Hey Karin,

That surf flow is exactly what the Mosquito was built for! We're stoked you're out there carving rails and floating through the deep stuff.

Incredible board

This snowboard is a real marvel and one of a kind. I ride a couple other swallow tails from Jones and wanted something that sits between the Storm Wolf performance/stiffness and the short form factor and nimbleness of the Storm Chaser. The mosquito did exactly that and exceeded my expectations in the process. Don't get fooled by its shape, this is a short fat freeride board, not a mellow little snowsurf. It's stiff, almost full camber, very nimble and handles speed extremely well for its size. It is a pretty agressive ride for advanced riders and up, but one thing I really love about the mosquito that none of my other freeride boards do is that it's fun at both low and high speeds. Even though it turns on a dime and has a short turning radius, you can still straightline it and charge with it when you need to. It chews through pow like you'd expect from its shape and it's happiest in medium to steep slopes for that. Carving performance is top tier if you like across the groomer carves. My favorite was probably taking this in springy slush. Finally, one thing that surprised me about this board is how well it handles medium jumps and side hits. For a board with such a tiny tail you can get some real air and land things confidently.

If you're like me and you enjoy boards with very short tails and tide everything your resort has to offer, I'd strongly consider adding the mosquito to your quiver. It's a very unique board and fills a niche in the freeride surfy shapes no other do.

Hi Ben!

Thank you so much for your amazing review of 'The Mosquito' snowboard. We are thrilled to hear that it exceeded your expectations and provided you with the perfect balance between performance and nimbleness. And we couldn't agree more about its ability to chew through pow like a champ. It's great to hear that it also handles jumps and side hits with ease.

We truly believe that 'The Mosquito' is a unique and special addition to any freeride quiver.

Happy shredding!

The snow has barely started to fall

The snow has barely started to fall, but I already know I’m gonna like it. I’m a fan of your product to begin with.

Amazing!!!

Amazing for fast short carves on groomers and fast medium turns in powder. I will never ride a different board again.

First day review

Ripped this board down some early season steeps at copper and the edge made carving and moguls a breeze. It was also wide enough to let me bomb the hills and not feel unstable whatsoever. Wish I could compare it to other boards in the snow surf quiver but I love this board so far especially compared to my nidecker escape.

Waiting for deep snow.

Havent even taken it in the powder yet and still really like it. It turns well, really well. Was a little skeptical that I could down size from a 162 to a 152 but, I definitely dont miss those 10 cm. I did slide my bindings closer to the heel edge so I wouldnt boot out on toe side carves. For dedicated carving I would want a bit wider or to go positive angles with both feet. For a powder board it checks all the boxes for me. 62 200lbs and 10.5 US.

Funner

I dont buy gear base on looks but oh man does this board define gorgeous!! She has a mellow disposition that can make you feel relaxed and loose and two turns later display the depths of her power and precision. She even handles ok going switch. Unless you drive her into a deep carve in snow when one of her ponytail fins can dig in and bucks you into the snow. One of my goals for the year was to ride more funner and this board insures and inspires just that.

Base quality control

I have only had a chance to have my new mosquito out once for a season close and find out if it was all I hoped for. It is.
A completely different ride than my big gun mad race/carver.

However, I did find that the base seems to have some ripple/waves along one edge. This appear to be from one step in the base grind process and then not leveled out in final structure.
I have contacted the retail store I purchased from who directed me to summit a claim to "low pressure studio".
Their response on reviewing photos (attached as well as additional) and description, was that this seemed a minor base irregularity and would not affect performance therefore not a warranty issue.
On further checking I have found that from mid camber forward the base is not true and flat between edges.
I agree with the assessment that these would not seriously affect the performance of the board.
I do, however, feel that I expected better control and final finish on a high end board. One made by a company that prides itself on its history and quality.
At this point I believe I will find a qualified shop that can tune this up, correct the flaws, and make this the perfect board I expect.

Great little ripper

I bought the board for pow and groomer surfing - it also carves great!
Not a high speed charger due to the effective edge, but easily fast enough for the resort.

The perfect snow surf style

The conditions were end of the season west coast spring slush without the ice and this board tore it up. From the first couple turns you could tell this was something special, my wife said I have never looked so comfortable on a board. I am 63 and normally ride a 163 so the short size of the mosquito, I have a 152, made it super playful and turns happened telepathically, I was never fighting the board. Carving was tight and snappy. The short tail really gave you a lot of feedback.

You never know what you are going to get with a new board, especially when you buy online, but this one exceeded expectations. As a life long surfer they really nailed the feeling, cant wait to get back on this board

Mosquito 2019

The Nidecker Mosquito is the best board I've ever ridden:
- Very fast and easy turns;
- Stiffness to work out all the bumps;
- Despite the short length it is possible to do eurocarves;
- Great floatation in a powder.
It combines opposite things - great control and fun.
I ride the 152cm (my weight is 77kg).
The only downside is that the metal tip on the tail fell off in the first season and the board had to be returned.

Mosquito 2019, true wood design

The mosquito 2019 is simply the best board you can ride when you ride with a lot ski people on highway stations.

This short board is ultrafast to turn and stop, very lightweight, and the pop is good for making some big jumps on Avoriaz snow park for example.

Each turn is so easy on hard snow and powder snow.

my dream came true

This board is the best ever. I ride the 148 cm and I'm 1m80 and 85kg. this board rides in all snow condition but my favorite with this one is end of season slush ... hard to explain without to try :-)
