Yoga For Snowboarding

Yoga - it’s not just about incense candles and stretchy pants. Practised right, it teaches inner strength and balance, both physically and mentally. Emilien Badoux, Freeride World Tour veteran, has amassed a ton of knowledge over the years and has refined it into this five-part video series: Yoga For Snowboarding.

Starting from one of the most basic positions - Tree Pose - and working up to headstands, each yoga pose has been chosen to help one or more fundamentals of snowboarding, whether it’s increasing your core strength, stamina or balance.

By using these videos for quick sessions leading up to a winter season or holiday - no special equipment needed - you’ll be surprised at what a difference yoga for snowboarding can make for your riding. You can go harder for longer, and rebound from minor injuries quicker than ever.

It’s no wonder that Emilen’s career has now spanned decades - as one of our sport’s early adopters of yoga it’s helped him push his boundaries both whilst riding and preparing mentally for big backcountry adventures.

What He Rides

The Ultralight

Designed just for the type of riding Emilien loves, the Ultralight is a big mountain destroyer. The core does what it says on the tin: a three-wood blend makes for our lightest ever, and the N9000 base is laced with carbon nanoparticles to make it both fast and tough.

With camber underfoot and rocker at the ends, plus a tapered, setback sidecut, it’s built for leaning hard into huge, sweeping powder turns, but the lightweight carbon build gives you more responsiveness, making lightning-fast reflex adjustments so easy you don’t even have to think - just focus on the ride.

Carbon Bindings

With a full carbon board, only the Nidecker Carbon bindings make sense. Superlight, strong and responsive, they are dependable in all conditions and a great match for the Ultralight.

The carbon highback is shaped for comfort as well as stiffness, and coupled with NOW Binding’s Hyperfuse ankle strap technology, there aren’t many snowboard bindings out there that match it for performance and fit.

Talon Focus

Hiking big mountains like Emilien does in Verbier comes with more demands on your equipment than normal resort riding - a boot must be as comfortable and supportive whilst bootpacking ridge lines as it is on piste.

That’s why the Talon Focus is a favourite across the whole Nidecker team. Its double BOA system lets you quickly and easily dial in the fit you need whilst thoughtful additions like a waterproof inner and Vibram outsole keep your feet as protected as possible.
