For a guy with Taylor’s surname, it was always inevitable he’d compete at the very top. Raised in the Colorado mountain town of Steamboat Springs, he achieved his childhood dream when he represented Team USA in the halfpipe at two Winter Olympics. Along the way, he’s picked up a whole hunk of metal (including two X games medals), stomped the first double chuck 10 in competition and beaten some nobody called Shaun White. These days you’re likely to find him outside the U-ditch, riding and filming in the backcountry or entertaining his buddies on the ol’ six-string.

TELL US ABOUT A STAND-OUT MOMENT FROM YOUR SNOWBAORD CAREER.

Getting 3rd in the Laax Open in 2020 was super special. It wasn’t my best result or my best run, but it was the first podium I had after shattering my knee cap in 2016 and the follow up surgeries in 2018. I also landed the first double chuck 10 in competition, a trick I was the first to do. It felt like the ultimate redemption after grinding it out for years to get back to 100%.

WHEN YOU'RE NOT SNOWBOARDING, WHAT DO YOU LOVE DOING?

I love mountain biking in the summer and torturing my friends with subpar guitar playing.

WHAT'S A PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WISH YOU HAD WHEN YOU STARTED OUT SNOWBOARDING?

Ride goofy. Being right handed and right footed naturally makes me (and most people) twisted to the left so being goofy instead of regular would have helped even my body out since goofy footers spend most of their time turned to the right. I'm gonna be Zoolander's evil twin in 10 years - only able to turn left.
